Frequently Asked Questions

Who honestly needs five black cartridges at once?

Offices whose Phaser 6140 never really rests — billing runs, shipping documents, reports all day — and sites running more than one of these machines from a shared supply shelf. At up to 2,500 rated pages each, five cartridges hold up to 12,500 pages, which is a half-year supply for genuinely busy printers. Anyone printing a few pages a week does not need this box, and should not buy it.

What does the bulk price do to the numbers?

The 5-pack is $85.92 — $17.18 per cartridge, the lowest per-unit price in this family. Five singles would total $159.90, so the pack saves $73.98 and pulls the cost down to about 0.69 cents per rated page. The trade is simple: cash and cupboard space now, in exchange for the cheapest black this printer can run on.

Does a shared shelf work when several machines draw from it?

Well — that is the quiet advantage of a single part number. Every cartridge in the box is the same 106R01480 black, so whichever machine fades first takes the next box off the shelf. There is no sorting, no machine-specific stock, and no risk of the wrong cartridge being bought for the wrong printer.

How long can the last cartridge sit before it is used?

Sealed, cool and dry, toner cartridges keep for a long time without the powder deteriorating. Rotate first-in, first-out so the oldest box is always consumed first, and give a long-stored cartridge a few gentle rocks before fitting to level the contents. What they dislike is heat and damp, not time.

What if our printing drops off and the stock outlasts the printer?

That is the honest risk of any bulk buy, and it is why this pack suits high, steady volume rather than hopeful volume. The cover softens it: free returns run for a full year, so unopened stock bought in error is not a dead loss. Still, size the order to the printing you actually do, not the printing you might do.

What warranty covers a pack this size?

Every one of the five cartridges carries the same 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, detailed on our shipping and returns page. Shipments leave from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
