Frequently Asked Questions

What does the second cartridge in a 2-pack actually buy me?

Uninterrupted workdays. Black is the cartridge a Phaser 6140 empties first and most often, and it rarely chooses a convenient moment. With the spare already on the shelf, a mid-print-run fade becomes a two-minute swap instead of a stalled office waiting on a delivery.

How does the maths work out?

The pair costs $45.46 — $22.73 per cartridge against $31.98 bought singly, a saving of $18.50 across the two. Each cartridge is rated at up to 2,500 pages, so the box carries up to 5,000 pages in total and the cost lands at about 0.91 cents per rated page.

Is there a discipline that makes a 2-pack work well?

One habit: the day the spare goes into the printer, place the next order. That keeps exactly one cartridge in reserve at all times without stockpiling. Rotate stock first-in, first-out as well — use the older box first so no cartridge sits sealed for longer than it needs to.

Will the spare keep until I need it?

Yes. Sealed toner cartridges store well for a long time in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The powder does not spoil on the shelf, and when its turn comes a few gentle side-to-side rocks before fitting will settle the contents evenly after months at rest.

Both cartridges are the same — 106R01480, correct?

Correct. The 2-pack holds two identical compatible black cartridges under the one part number, 106R01480. There is no standard-and-high-yield mix and no colour in the box; it is simply the printer's black supply, twice over, for offices that would rather not think about it again for a while.

What if one of the pair lets me down?

Each cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year; the terms are gathered on our shipping and returns page. Parcels leave from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
