Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fifth cartridge in this set for?
It is a shelf spare drawn from the same four part numbers the printer uses — black 106R01480, cyan 106R01477, magenta 106R01478 and yellow 106R01479. Whichever slot empties first on your Phaser 6140, a replacement is already in the cupboard instead of in transit, and reaching for that spare is your signal to reorder.
Which of the four numbers is duplicated as the spare?
The listing does not fix one color as the extra, so check the five boxes when the parcel arrives and note which part number appears twice. What matters is that every cartridge in the bundle is one of the machine's own four: 106R01480, 106R01477, 106R01478 or 106R01479.
How are the cartridges rated?
Black 106R01480 carries a rating near 2,500 pages, while cyan 106R01477, magenta 106R01478 and yellow 106R01479 sit near 2,000 pages each, measured at the usual 5% coverage. Dense color pages will shorten a color cartridge's run well before plain text shortens the black's.
What does $84.23 buy here that the four-pack does not?
Continuity. The four-pack restores a printer whose cartridges are spent; this five-cartridge bundle restores it and leaves one cartridge in reserve, so the next empty slot is a two-minute swap rather than the start of a delivery wait.
How should the spare be stored until it is needed?
Keep it sealed in its box, flat, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Toner keeps well under ordinary office conditions, and an unopened cartridge fitted months later performs the same as one fitted on delivery day.
What cover applies to all five cartridges?
Each one — installed or still shelved — sits under a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns. Stock is dispatched from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA; see the shipping and returns page for the mechanics. Support answers Mon–Fri, 9 AM–5 PM CST.
About This Xerox 6140 5 Color Set
Five cartridges spanning the Phaser 6140's four part numbers — black 106R01480 (about 2,500 pages), cyan 106R01477, magenta 106R01478 and yellow 106R01479 (about 2,000 pages each) — at $84.23, arranged so one cartridge remains as a standing spare after a full changeover. Built for owners who would rather reorder calmly than print against a deadline with an empty slot. Individual refills are listed on our Xerox toner page.
