Frequently Asked Questions
Five drum units is a lot — who is this pack sized for?
Sites running several machines from this platform: a facility or print operation with DocuColor presses and WorkCentre units working side by side. Every one of those machines takes the same black drum unit, so a single shelf of five covers the whole floor's drum changes, instead of each machine's keeper ordering one at a time whenever a prompt appears.
How does the unit price compare with the single listing?
The 5-pack is $879.92, which works out to $175.98 a unit against $190.77 for the single — a saving of $73.93 across the pack. Spread over the full drum life, the cost per page sits at about 0.22 cents.
How do we keep track of five units spread across several machines?
Total coverage is 400,000 pages of drum life. The practical method is simple: when a unit goes into a machine, write the machine's name and its page count on the box or the job log. Drums are tracked by pages imaged, so the count recorded at fitting time is what tells you when that machine will call for the next unit from the shelf.
Is there any harm in holding drum units in stock for a long while?
Kept sealed, dark and dry, they wait well — the packaging protects the light-sensitive imaging surface, which is the part that matters. Rotate the shelf oldest-first, and do not open a unit until the machine it is destined for is actually ready for it.
All five units are black — is this a complete drum set for one machine?
No, and that is worth stating plainly: this pack is five of the black drum unit only. The color drum stations in these machines use different part numbers and are listed separately. This pack restocks the black station five times over — or once on each of five machines — it is not one machine's complete set.
What cover and delivery come with the pack?
All five units are backed by a one-year warranty and free returns for a year, as set out on the shipping and returns page. Orders leave from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The rest of the platform's range sits on the Xerox toner page.
