Frequently Asked Questions

What does this cartridge cost per month in an SCX-4500 that prints every workday?

Work it from the rating: at roughly a hundred printed pages a workday, one ML-D1630A cartridge at 2,000 pages lasts about twenty working days - close to a calendar month. So a hard-working SCX-4500 burns through toner at about $52.61 a month bought singly; the five-pack in this family trims that monthly figure to roughly $37.82 per cartridge.

When should we reorder so the SCX-4500 never sits empty?

When the first warning signs appear - print lightening, a low-toner message - rather than when pages come out blank. At office pace the fading stage still holds a few days of printing, which is the comfortable window to place an order or to fit the shelf spare and reorder behind it. Waiting for a total stop is what turns toner into an emergency.

Our SCX-4500 spends half its life copying - how does that change the maths?

It means the 2,000-page rating is shared between the two jobs: copies print, so they spend this cartridge at the same rate as pages from a computer, while scans sent to a file spend nothing. A machine splitting its week evenly between printing and copying reaches the end of the cartridge in half the calendar time a print-only reading of the rating would suggest.

Is this the same cartridge the ML-1630 printers use?

Yes - identical. This listing presents the Samsung ML-D1630A under the SCX-4500's name; the ML-1630 and ML-1630W printers run on the very same cartridge. That is why the code stamped on the unit, ML-D1630A, is the reliable thing to match when reordering for any of these machines.

Which other models take this cartridge?

Beyond the SCX-4500 on this listing, the ML-D1630A fits the ML-1630 and the ML-1630W. That trio is the cartridge's whole family here - three machines, one shared supply, which keeps ordering simple for offices that run more than one of them.

How are we covered if the cartridge disappoints?

It carries a one-year warranty, and sending it back is free for a full year if the cartridge arrives faulty or fails early in its life. Shipments come from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and our team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
