Frequently Asked Questions

What should the first prints look like after this cartridge goes into our ML-1630?

Full and dark from the first sheet: ordinary documents should come out with solid black text and no pale patches once the ML-D1630A is seated. If the opening pages show streaks or a light band, take the cartridge out, rock it gently to settle the powder and refit it - that cures most first-fit unevenness. Pages that stay patchy after that point to a cartridge problem, which the warranty exists for.

How is the 2,000-page rating actually measured?

Manufacturers rate cartridges on standard test pages with modest text coverage, around five percent of the page. Everyday ML-1630 work made of letters, invoices and forms sits close to that pattern, so the rating is a fair planning figure; pages filled with bold headings, shaded tables or graphics draw more toner per sheet and bring the total down.

What does each page cost on this cartridge?

The cartridge costs $52.61 and is rated at 2,000 pages, which puts toner at roughly 2.63 cents per page. That is the single-cartridge rate for the ML-1630; the multi-packs in this family step it down, with the five-pack reaching about 1.89 cents a page for offices that print in volume.

Will this cartridge also work in the other machines in our office?

If they are from the same corner of the Samsung range, yes. This ML-D1630A is the shared supply for the ML-1630, its ML-1630W sibling and the SCX-4500 multifunction - check the code on the cartridge you remove from each machine, and where it reads ML-D1630A this is the same cartridge.

How long can a sealed spare sit before it goes in?

A long while, kept sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. The toner inside is a stable dry powder, so a spare bought with this cartridge and shelved properly will print as it should when its turn comes; just open it only when the ML-1630 actually needs it.

What protection comes with this cartridge?

It carries a one-year warranty, and returns are free of charge for a full year if the cartridge arrives faulty or fails early in its life. We dispatch from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and the support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
