Frequently Asked Questions

Do copies on the SCX-4100 draw on this cartridge the same way prints do?

Entirely. To the toner supply, a photocopied page is a printed page - the drum lays down the same image either way. Only scanning is toner-free. Anyone budgeting for an SCX-4100 should therefore count copies and prints together against the cartridge's 3,000-page rating, because the machine certainly does.

How long will one cartridge last an SCX-4100 that copies as much as it prints?

Count the combined stream. Four hundred pages a month across both jobs gives seven to eight months from a 3,000-page unit; eight hundred combined pages shortens that to roughly four. The rating never changes - what changes is how quickly a multifunction burns through it.

Copies look pale but prints from the computer are fine - is it the cartridge?

Almost certainly not. When computer output stays dark while copies wash out, suspect the scanner glass or the copy density control before the toner: wipe the glass, check the setting. The cartridge is implicated when prints and copies deteriorate together - then a new unit is indeed the remedy.

What does a page cost with this cartridge in the SCX-4100?

With the cartridge at $41.62 against a 3,000-page rating, the figure is roughly 1.39 cents - identical for a copy and a print, which keeps the arithmetic refreshingly simple. It is also a good deal gentler than the per-page economics of the small starter unit these multifunctions shipped with.

Which other Samsung machines use this same cartridge?

The shared list runs to ML-1740 and ML-1750, ML-1710, ML-1710B, ML-1710D and ML-1710P, and ML-1500, ML-1510, ML-1510B and ML-1520. If a plain ML printer of the same vintage works elsewhere in the building, a single spare cartridge protects it and the SCX-4100 in equal measure.

What cover applies to this cartridge?

A warranty of twelve months, with returning a faulty unit costing you nothing across the same period - leaks, streaks or an early failure all qualify, under the arrangements on the shipping and returns page. Fulfilment comes from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses; questions are handled Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
