Frequently Asked Questions

Why do our photographs start looking cold and flat as this cartridge runs down?

Because yellow is where the warmth lives. Sunlight, skin tones, autumn colors, food photography — all of them lean heavily on yellow, and as the CLT-Y404S fades, that warmth drains out of the print even while the other cartridges still show healthy levels. Faces turn gray, skies lose their late-afternoon glow, and everything looks faintly refrigerated. It is one of the earliest and most reliable signs that the yellow specifically is nearing its end.

The cartridge I removed is stamped CLT-Y404S, but this listing's headline says CLT-404S — is it the same cartridge?

Yes. CLT-404S is the family name for this generation of supplies; the letter in the middle of the full code is the color, and Y marks this one as the yellow. The code stamped on the cartridge you pulled out is the reliable way to reorder, and CLT-Y404S is exactly what this listing sells, in compatible form.

Which machines is this yellow made for?

The CLT-Y404S is the listed yellow supply for the Samsung Xpress C430, Xpress C430W, Xpress C480 and Xpress C480FW color printers. Its companions sit under their own codes in their own slots — CLT-K404S for black, and the cyan and magenta cartridges of the same series — and each one is changed on its own schedule, when its own level gives out.

Will this yellow last as long as the black cartridge does?

Not on the same clock. The black in this platform is the CLT-K404S, rated at 1,500 pages, while this yellow is rated at 1,000 — and the two are spent by different work. Black is consumed by text; yellow is consumed by color content, and a single photograph can use more of it than a week of letters uses black. Expect the colors each to run their own race, and do not be surprised by the order they finish in.

How should I keep a spare yellow so it is ready when I need it?

Sealed in its box, stored flat in a dry cupboard away from heat and direct sunlight. Toner does not spoil on a calendar, so a spare bought today will print just as well when the fitted cartridge finally fades. With a 1,000-page rating, keeping one spare on the shelf is the difference between a two-minute swap and a stalled color job while a delivery makes its way to you.

What cover stands behind this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty against defects, together with free returns at any point during the first twelve months if the cartridge is not right for you — the full wording is on our shipping and returns page. Questions before or after fitting are welcome: our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This CLT-404S Yellow Cartridge (CLT-Y404S)

Of the three colors in the 404S generation, yellow does the warming. This compatible CLT-Y404S brings that warmth to the Xpress C430, C430W, C480 and C480FW — 1,000 rated pages for $76.50 — and ships from whichever of our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses is closest. A year's warranty and free returns for a year stand behind it, and the rest of the Samsung line-up is gathered in our Samsung toner cartridge range.
