Frequently Asked Questions

Why has our yellow run out while the cyan and magenta still show half left?

Because the three colors are not spent evenly — they are spent by your pages, and most office color work is quietly yellow-heavy. Warm letterhead tones, chart shading, highlighted passages, the greens in a logo: all of them draw more yellow than cyan or magenta, page after page. The CLT-Y404S reaching the end first is not a fault in the cartridge; it is a faithful record of what your documents are actually made of.

This listing is headed CLT-404, but the cartridge in my printer says CLT-Y404S — are they the same thing?

Yes. CLT-404 is the shorthand for this family of supplies, and the full code fills in the color: the Y in CLT-Y404S marks this cartridge as the yellow. Ordering by the complete code stamped on the cartridge you removed is the surest method, and the CLT-Y404S is exactly the yellow this listing sells, in compatible form.

Which printers does this yellow serve?

The CLT-Y404S is the yellow supply for the Samsung Xpress C430, Xpress C430W, Xpress C480 and Xpress C480FW. In each of those machines it sits alongside the CLT-K404S black and the cyan and magenta cartridges of the same generation, in its own slot, and is swapped independently whenever its own level gives out.

How many pages should we honestly expect from it?

The CLT-Y404S is rated at 1,000 pages under the standard 5% coverage measure. Text pages with a colored logo will come close to that figure; pages of charts, shaded tables or photographs spend the cartridge considerably faster. For planning, the practical figure is the warning light rather than the rating: when the printer reports this color low, order the replacement — on a 1,000-page cartridge the remaining reserve is short.

What does this cartridge cost, and can we buy it in a pack?

It is sold singly at $76.50 — this color is not offered in multi-packs. Against the 1,000-page rating that is roughly 7.65 cents of yellow per page at standard coverage, which is the normal running shape of a compact desktop color printer: small cartridges, bought one color at a time, as each color's own work runs it down.

What protection stands behind this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty against defects, and free returns at any point within the first year if the cartridge is not right for you — the complete wording is on our shipping and returns page. If you are unsure whether this is the supply your machine needs, our support team will confirm it Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
