Frequently Asked Questions

Why does magenta decide whether our logo and photos look right?

Magenta carries the red half of the color palette: it builds reds, oranges, purples, and most skin tones. When it runs low, brand reds slide toward orange and faces take on a greenish cast long before the cartridge reports empty. For offices printing customer-facing material, magenta is the color whose decline shows up in complaints first.

How long should one magenta cartridge last in a typical month?

Expect up to 22,500 pages at the standard coverage assumption, priced at $114.45 — around half a cent per rated page. An office mixing color into a fifth of its pages may see one cartridge last the better part of a year, while brochure and photo work at high coverage can consume it in a fraction of that time.

The title says C6000 — does this magenta only fit that one machine?

It fits the family, not just the title model. This 842281 magenta serves the entire Ricoh IM C4500 and IM C6000 color MFP platform, and all machines in that line run the same magenta cartridge. Whichever model from the platform sits on your floor, this is its magenta supply.

Does color copying draw on magenta the same way color printing does?

Yes — a color copy is printed output, so it consumes magenta at the same rate as an equivalent printed page. Black-and-white copying, by contrast, touches only the black cartridge. Reception and admin desks that copy color handouts all day often deplete magenta faster than the print queue alone would predict.

Is it worth stocking a spare magenta before the warning appears?

For most color-active offices, yes. Magenta failures are gradual and easy to ignore until a client document looks wrong, and a sealed spare on the shelf turns the swap into a two-minute job. Stored sealed, cool, and out of sunlight, the spare keeps fine while it waits.

How do returns work if this cartridge disappoints us?

Simply contact us within the first year — returns are free during that period, and the cartridge carries a one-year warranty behind it. You will find the full terms on our shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from IL, PA, GA, and CA, which keeps replacement transit short in most regions.
