Frequently Asked Questions

Which colors disappear from our prints first when yellow starts to fade?

Greens go first — without enough yellow they slide toward blue — followed by warm tones like golds, oranges, and natural skin tones, which turn cool and pale. Because yellow itself is pale on paper, these shifts in other colors are usually the earliest visible clue that the cartridge is running down.

Does the C4500 mix yellow into ordinary business graphics more than we realize?

Yes. Chart fills, highlighted cells, presentation backgrounds, and even many company logos carry a yellow component, and greens are built from yellow plus cyan. An office that prints charts and decks daily can use yellow steadily even if nobody ever prints a page that looks yellow.

The listing is titled for the C4500 — will this yellow cartridge work in our machine?

If your machine is in the same family, yes. This 842280 yellow cartridge is made for the Ricoh IM C4500 and IM C6000 platform as a whole, and the listing title simply names the C4500. Every model on that platform takes this identical yellow cartridge.

How much should we trust the on-screen toner percentage for yellow?

The percentage is an estimate based on your recent coverage, so it is a guide rather than a guarantee. It is accurate enough for ordering decisions — when it reads around 20%, ordering a replacement is prudent — but a run of photo-heavy pages can pull it down faster than the gauge first suggests.

Should a low-volume office buy yellow one at a time or together with the other colors?

One at a time suits most low-volume offices, since colors rarely empty together and a single cartridge ships quickly. Buying yellow alongside a color you already need can save on shipping, but there is no functional reason to replace it before the machine asks for it.

If this yellow cartridge disappoints, what is the return path?

Returns are free for a full year and the cartridge carries a one-year warranty, as explained at Shipping & Returns. Contact us Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and we will arrange the return or a replacement — whichever you prefer.
