Frequently Asked Questions

Our marketing pages are heavy on photos — how much does that shorten magenta's 22,500-page rating?

Quite a bit. The rating is based on about 5% page coverage, while photographs and full-bleed flyers can cover most of the page and lean hard on magenta for reds and skin tones. A photo-heavy workflow may see half the rated yield or less, so plan orders around your actual coverage rather than the headline number.

Can a weak magenta cartridge affect black-and-white printing too?

Ordinary black-and-white documents are printed from the black cartridge alone, so faded magenta does not lighten your text pages. Only color output suffers — reds drift orange and warm tones wash out — while reports, letters, and invoices in black stay exactly as they were.

Is this magenta cartridge really only for the C4500 named in the listing?

No. Listings lead with one model name, but this 842281 magenta cartridge is built for the Ricoh IM C4500 and IM C6000 platform, and the whole family shares the same magenta cartridge. If your machine belongs to that platform, this is the right supply even though the title names the C4500.

If magenta runs empty in the middle of a color print job, what happens to the rest of the run?

The machine pauses the color job rather than printing it wrong, and it resumes once the cartridge is replaced. Black-and-white jobs in the queue are unaffected and can keep printing, so an empty magenta does not bring the whole office to a stop.

Which kinds of pages barely touch magenta at all?

Text documents, spreadsheets with blue or green charts, and cool-toned graphics use very little magenta. Offices whose color work is mostly charts and diagrams often find magenta is the last color to need replacing, while photo and brochure work reverses that pattern entirely.

What protection backs this cartridge if print quality drops early?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns cover every cartridge, with the full terms at Shipping & Returns. If quality fades well before the cartridge should be empty, contact support Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and we will make it right.
