Frequently Asked Questions

We print almost nothing that looks yellow — why does this cartridge matter at all?

Because yellow is hidden inside a large share of what you do print. It is half of every green, a component of warm grays and skin tones, and part of most photographic color. A page can look nearly yellow-free and still draw steadily on this cartridge, which is why its gauge falls even in offices that swear they never print yellow.

How far does one yellow cartridge go in a mostly-text office?

Potentially a very long way. Rated at 22,500 pages and priced at $114.45 — about half a cent per rated page — yellow in a text-dominant office may last well beyond a year, since only its share of occasional color pages draws on it. Color-heavy floors will cycle it far sooner, in step with the other colors.

Is this yellow cartridge specific to the C6000 in the listing title?

No. This 842280 yellow is the shared supply for the whole Ricoh IM C4500 and IM C6000 platform, and every model in that family accepts the same yellow cartridge. The listing takes its name from one family member; the cartridge itself belongs to the platform.

Why did the low-yellow warning seem to appear out of nowhere?

Yellow depletion is almost impossible to spot on the page — output keeps looking acceptable while the last of the toner is consumed, because the eye barely registers missing yellow until greens and warm tones shift. The panel gauge, not the print quality, is the honest signal with this color, which is why the warning can feel sudden.

Can we coax more pages from a low yellow cartridge by shaking it?

A gentle rock can redistribute the remaining toner and buy a short grace period — sometimes a few dozen pages. It does not create new toner, and output quality during that stretch is uneven, so treat it strictly as a bridge while the replacement ships. Ordering at the first warning is the more reliable habit.

What backing comes with this cartridge if it falls short?

A one-year warranty, with free returns available throughout that first year if the cartridge fails to perform. Policy details live on our shipping and returns page, and orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA, and CA.
