Frequently Asked Questions

Why does cyan seem to run out faster than the other colors?

Cyan does a lot of quiet work: it is a component of most blues and greens, and even many grays and photographs draw on it. Offices that print charts, logos and presentations often find cyan is the first color to empty. Each color on this platform is rated at 18,000 pages, but real-world consumption depends heavily on what your documents actually contain.

How does the running cost of color compare with black on this machine?

This cyan cartridge is $86.83 for a rated 18,000 pages, which works out to about 0.48 cents per page — more than double the roughly 0.20 cents per page of the black cartridge. That gap is normal for color MFPs and is worth knowing when you budget for color-heavy work. Black-and-white documents, by contrast, draw only on the black cartridge.

Which machines does this cyan cartridge fit?

It is the cyan cartridge for the Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 / MP C5502 platform, shown here under its cartridge code 841650. Both models in Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 and MP C5502 use this same cyan unit, so the model name on your machine does not change which cartridge you order. Each color on the platform has its own code, so check you are ordering cyan rather than magenta or yellow.

Our blues look purple and greens look dull — could cyan be the cause?

Yes, that is a classic sign of a fading cyan supply: without enough cyan, blues shift toward purple and greens lose their brightness. Check the machine's toner levels to confirm before replacing. Once a fresh cyan cartridge is in, running the machine's color calibration restores balance across all four colors.

Can we replace just the cyan cartridge, or do all colors go together?

Just the cyan. Each color cartridge on this platform is independent, so you only ever replace the one that is empty — there is no need to change magenta or yellow at the same time. That keeps color running costs tied to what you actually use.

What happens if this cartridge leaks or prints poorly?

It is protected by our one-year warranty, and returns stay free for a full year after purchase — the process is outlined on our shipping and returns page. Contact support Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST and we will arrange a replacement. Orders ship from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses.
