Frequently Asked Questions

How long will 28,000 pages actually last in a busy office?

It depends on your monthly volume. A workgroup printing around 3,000 black pages a month can expect roughly nine months from one cartridge, while a department pushing 6,000 pages a month will go through it in under five. The 28,000-page rating assumes the standard 5% page coverage, so dense reports and heavy graphics will shorten that somewhat.

What does this cartridge bring our cost per page down to?

At $55.50 for a rated 28,000 pages, the math works out to about 0.20 cents per page for black output — genuinely low for a color MFP platform. That is the running-cost figure most MP C4502 and MP C5502 owners budget around, and it is a big part of why these machines stay economical in high-volume departments.

Which printers does this black cartridge work in?

This is the black cartridge for the shared Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 / MP C5502 platform, listed here under its cartridge code 841647. The two models in Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 and MP C5502 take the same black cartridge, so if your machine is one of them, this is the right unit regardless of which model name appears on the front panel.

Our prints are coming out light and streaky — is the cartridge finished?

Light, streaky output near the end of a cartridge's life usually means the toner is nearly spent, though it can occasionally point to a drum or transfer issue instead. A quick test is to check the machine's toner gauge; if it reads near empty, replacing this cartridge is the right first step. If a fresh cartridge does not restore density, the machine itself may need attention.

How should we store a spare before we need it?

Keep it sealed in its original packaging, stored flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Stored that way, a spare keeps well for an extended period, so there is no penalty for ordering ahead of the low-toner warning. Avoid garages or supply rooms that swing widely in temperature.

What protection do we get if this cartridge underperforms?

Every cartridge we sell is backed by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year as well — the details are on our shipping and returns page. If output quality drops well before the rated yield, contact us and we will make it right. Support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
