Frequently Asked Questions

What arrives when I order this B411D drum unit?

One compatible drum unit — the 44574301 imaging drum — in black, rated for 30,000 pages. It is the drum only: no toner cartridge is included, because on the B411D the toner and drum are separate parts, and this listing replaces the worn drum while your existing toner cartridge keeps working on top of it.

My B411D prints show the same mark on every page — is that the drum?

Very likely, yes. A repeating defect that lands in the same rhythm down every sheet is the signature of a nick or wear spot on the drum surface: the cylinder rolls that flaw onto page after page. Fresh toner cannot fix it, because the toner was never the problem — the imaging surface is.

How does drum life compare with toner life on this machine?

The drum is the long-distance part: 30,000 pages against a few thousand per toner cartridge. Expect to swap toner again and again on one drum, then — when background shading, lines or stubborn paleness creep in — swap the drum and watch the same toner cartridges print cleanly again.

Why does a new toner cartridge sometimes fail to restore quality?

Because toner only supplies the powder; the drum decides where it lands. A scratched or light-tired 44574301 surface misplaces even perfect toner, so pages stay streaky or washed out. Replacing the drum is what gives the new cartridge a healthy surface to work against.

What does one drum cost per page at $70.70?

About 0.24 cents per page across its 30,000-page life. Framed that way, the drum is a small, predictable maintenance cost — far cheaper than the toner cartridges offices burn through while chasing a print-quality problem that lives in the drum.

If the new drum does not fix my prints, what then?

You are covered: this compatible drum carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with details on our shipping and returns page. It ships from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and our support team is available Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST to help you diagnose what else it could be.

About This B411D Drum Unit

Sold for the B411D, this compatible drum unit is the 44574301 — the same drum also serves the B411dn, B431d, MB461 MFP, MB471 and MB471W. Its job is imaging: the surface that receives each page's picture and transfers it to paper, rated for 30,000 pages of service. When a B411D starts printing repeating marks, lines or a gray haze that fresh toner does not cure, this $70.70 drum is the repair. Toner and drum options for the whole family sit on our Okidata brand page.
