Frequently Asked Questions

Our S2420 runs out mid-job more often than we'd like. Does a two-pack help?

It does, mostly by changing the routine: one cartridge goes in the printer and the second waits sealed in the supply cabinet. When the S2420 hits empty in the middle of a statement run, the swap takes two minutes and the job finishes the same hour. Most repeat mid-job outages happen because the spare was never actually on site — the two-pack fixes that habit.

What's the price advantage over two separate cartridges?

Separately, two cartridges cost $218.86. This two-pack is $200.38, a savings of $18.48, putting each cartridge at $100.19 and the cost per page near 0.57 cents over 35,200 rated pages. It is a straightforward volume discount on a cartridge your office will certainly use.

Can the two cartridges go into two different printers?

Yes. Both cartridges are individually sealed, identical units of the 1382925, which fits the entire Optra S family: OPTRA S1250, OPTRA S1620, OPTRA S1650, OPTRA S1855, OPTRA S2420 and OPTRA S2450. Plenty of customers split a pack between an S2420 and another Optra model down the hall — this listing names the S2420, but nothing ties the cartridges to that one model.

How do I know when it's time to install the second cartridge?

Watch for the low-toner message first, then for prints that stay light after a gentle shake of the installed cartridge. On the S2420, faded output that returns briefly after rocking the cartridge means you are running on residue — a good rule is to order the next two-pack the day you install the second cartridge, not the day it runs out.

Will the spare cartridge degrade while it waits?

No. Kept sealed, flat, and in a dry room-temperature space, toner cartridges store for years without losing print quality — toner is a dry powder, not a liquid that dries out. Avoid attics, damp storage rooms, and anywhere near a heating vent, and the spare will print like new whenever you open it.

Are returns really free if something's wrong?

They are, for a full year, and each cartridge also carries a one-year warranty of its own. If one unit in the pack misbehaves, we handle that unit on its own merits — the return steps are on our shipping and returns page, and our team is around Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
