Frequently Asked Questions

How do we read the part number without disturbing patrons?

Print a configuration page from the menu, or glance at the supplies readout on the panel — both show the installed cartridge's code without opening anything. The code a library machine should show is W1470Y. When it does, the cartridge in this listing is its like-for-like replacement. Reading the number without disturbing the machine is the right habit in a public room, and the number it gives identifies the supply for the M611dn, M611n, M611x, M634h, M634z, M635h, M635z, M636fh and M636z.

What does the delivery consist of?

A lone black 147Y cartridge in factory wrapping, boxed by itself. The charge for one is $250.03, and there are no companion parts the desk needs to gather before the change can happen.

Why does an open-access printer want a rating this large?

Because nobody can forecast a public printer's week. A 42,000-page cartridge absorbs the spikes — term-paper season, application deadlines, a run of genealogy printouts — and still leaves long, quiet intervals where toner simply is not a topic at the reference desk.

Where does the next cartridge wait until it is needed?

In its sealed wrapping, in a locked cupboard near the machine. Kept flat and at ordinary indoor temperatures, it can sit there for the whole interval between changes; the only housekeeping is knowing which cupboard it is in.

What does the change look like in practice?

Whoever is on duty lifts the top cover, draws the finished cartridge straight out, and settles the fresh one with a soft side-to-side tilt before sliding it into place and closing up. The printer needs no menu work afterward and is printing again almost immediately.

What happens if the cartridge itself misbehaves?

Coverage runs a full year on both fronts: a 1-year warranty, and 1-year free returns alongside it. A unit that turns out to be defective goes back for a replacement or a refund, and our staff pick up the phone Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.

About This 147Y Single Cartridge

Reading rooms are unkind to small supplies: demand arrives in waves and the printer belongs to everyone. This W1470Y exists for that pattern — one black cartridge under a 42,000-page rating, installed in minutes and then forgotten for months, at $250.03. It keeps an HP LaserJet Enterprise M611dn in a library setting stocked without asking staff to nurse a supplies shelf. A staff-only printer with steadier, smaller demand can be kept on the high-yield 147X (W1470X) single.

Shipments come out of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, from whichever sits closest to the delivery address; the shipping & returns page spells out the timing. Everything else offered for this family is gathered under HP.
