Yellow is the cartridge owners forget until greens go blue and warm scenes turn cold — it underpins every warm tone the printer makes, and it often runs out ahead of its neighbours on landscape work. This compatible T079420-S cartridge is filled with Claria Hi-Definition dye ink and rated up to 810 pages on Epson's published rating. The 79 family is high capacity throughout; there is no standard-tier yellow to mistake it for.
A new compatible chip reports the ink level. Plainly stated: this cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge until it clicks and restart before treating a warning as a verdict. The rest of the shelf is T079120-S black (up to 470 pages), T079220-S cyan, T079320-S magenta, T079520-S light cyan and T079620-S light magenta, the colours each rated up to 810 pages.
Fits the Stylus Photo 1400 and the Artisan 1430 only — the two models on Epson's own documentation for this family. Lifetime warranty, free returns for the first year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages does the T079420 print?
Up to 810 pages on Epson's published rating for the genuine cartridge. Photographs draw far more ink per page than the rating pattern, so expect fewer full-page photos than the headline figure.
Which printers take it?
The Stylus Photo 1400 and the Artisan 1430 — the complete, Epson-verified list for the 79 family. No other Epson model uses T079 cartridges.
Why did my greens and warm tones shift before the printer warned me?
Yellow fades from output gradually as nozzles starve, and a drifting colour balance is often the first symptom. Run a nozzle check: a broken yellow pattern confirms it is time for this cartridge.
Is the 79 yellow high capacity or standard?
High capacity — every cartridge in the 79 family is, by Epson's own support-page descriptions. The family has no standard tier.
What if the printer says it cannot recognise the cartridge?
This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur. Power off, reseat the cartridge firmly until it clicks, and power back on; if the message persists, the cartridge is covered by the lifetime warranty. We do not claim recognition is guaranteed in every case.
What ink is inside?
Claria Hi-Definition dye ink — the six-colour photographic dye system for the Stylus Photo 1400 and Artisan 1430 generation.
Does the printer stop when yellow is empty?
Yes. These printers will not operate with any cartridge expended or removed, yellow included.
Can I mix this cartridge with genuine Epson cartridges in the other slots?
Yes. Each of the six slots reads its own cartridge; compatible and genuine cartridges can sit side by side. Our other five 79 colours are listed on this page if you prefer a matched shelf.
How should a spare be stored?
Sealed, upright, at room temperature, out of direct sunlight — and opened only when it goes into the printer.
How much ink is in it, in millilitres?
Epson's documentation publishes no verified millilitre figure for this family, so the Volume field is deliberately blank. The 810-page published yield is the figure to compare.
Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?
No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T079420-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and this page. It is not made by Epson.
What warranty and returns apply?
Lifetime warranty: a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced. Free returns apply within the first year.
