This is the cartridge this family is bought for — and the one where we put the honest warning first, not last. Our compatible T702XL120-S holds DURABrite Ultra pigment black ink rated up to 1,100 pages (ISO/IEC 24711), more than three times the standard T702120-S black's 350 pages. It carries a chip, and on this family that sentence needs its second half: printer firmware updates can affect recognition of compatible cartridges on the WF-3720 platform, a point Epson's own support page raises as its first FAQ. Install it, let the printer recognise it, and only then consider a firmware update.

The sibling colours are T702XL220-S cyan, T702XL320-S magenta and T702XL420-S yellow, each rated up to 950 pages — note the split, because it is this family's fingerprint: black 1,100, colours 950 each, not 1,100 across the board. We sell the 702 family in its XL tier only; the standard codes fit the same printers but are not stocked here, and the page says so rather than dressing a standard cartridge up as XL.

It fits all three verified 702-family printers — WorkForce Pro WF-3720, WF-3730 and WF-3733 — and no others: the WF-4720, WF-4730 and WF-4740 sitting one digit away are 802 printers and take none of these cartridges. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will my printer recognise this cartridge?

It carries a chip, and we answer this family's version of the question straight: printer firmware updates can affect recognition on this platform. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge until it clicks and restart the printer before judging it, and pause automatic firmware updates until the new cartridge is recognised. If a warning will not clear after that, the lifetime warranty covers the cartridge. We do not promise recognition under every future firmware version.

How many pages does the T702XL120 print?

Up to 1,100 pages, Epson's published rating for the genuine cartridge on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern. Text-heavy office printing tracks that figure most closely; coverage and cleaning cycles move real life up or down.

Why is the black rated higher than the colours here?

That is Epson's own split for this family: XL black 1,100 pages, XL colours 950 each. Do not carry the 252XL family's figures over — on that shelf all four XL cartridges rate 1,100, and mixing the two families' numbers is the easiest mistake in this catalogue corner.

    What ink is inside?

DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, the ink type Epson specifies for the whole 702 line in all four colours. Pigment black is what gives these WorkForce Pro machines their smudge-, water- and fade-resistant document output.

    Which printers take it?

The three officially verified models: WorkForce Pro WF-3720, WF-3730 and WF-3733. It does not fit the WF-4720, WF-4730 or WF-4740 — those are 802-family printers.

My printer updated its firmware and now says the ink is not recognized. What now?

That exact sequence is the first FAQ on Epson's own WF-3720 support page, so you are not alone in it. Power off, remove the cartridge, check the chip contacts are clean and dry, reseat it until it clicks, and power back on. If the message persists, contact us — the cartridge is covered by the lifetime warranty.

Can I mix this XL black with standard-capacity colours?

Yes. Each slot is independent, and Epson lists both tiers for all three printers, so an XL black alongside standard colours — or the reverse — is a normal configuration. Our colours are XL at 950 pages each.

Is the standard 702 black also sold here?

No. Our 702 shelf is XL-only, because the compatible ladder for this family is built on XL cartridges. The standard T702120-S (350 pages) fits your printer, but it is not a product on this shelf and we will not present it as one.

How much ink is in it, in millilitres?

We do not publish a figure: no verified millilitre volume for this family is in our official-source inventory, so the Volume field is left blank rather than filled with a reseller's claim. The verifiable figure is the 1,100-page ISO yield.

    How do I install it?

Open the pack only when you are ready, remove only the tape the instructions show, and do not touch the chip contacts. Press the cartridge into the black slot until it clicks, close the cover, let the printer charge the ink, and print a test page before returning to work.

Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T702XL120-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.

Should I buy the single or a set?

The single if only black is low and the colours have life left. If a full reset is coming, the Set of 4 (all XL) covers every slot, and the Bulk Set of 9 (three blacks, two of each colour) suits a printer that burns black fastest — both are linked from this page.
