Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a 222XL cyan?

No — and there never has been. Epson's official cartridge table for this platform gives colours no XL tier; cyan exists only as the standard T222220-S rated up to 185 pages. Any listing selling a 222XL colour is mislabelling a standard cartridge.

What is the yield?

Up to 185 pages, Epson's published standard colour rating on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern — the same figure for magenta and yellow in this family.

Which printers does this cyan fit?

Expression Home XP-5200 and WorkForce WF-2960. Not the WF-2950 (a 232-family printer), and not the XP-4200 or XP-4205 (also 232). The model badge decides.

Will it be recognised?

It carries a new compatible chip. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — seat it until it clicks and restart the printer before assuming a fault.

My colour prints lean red. Could cyan be the cause?

Yes — a fading cyan is the classic reason colour balance tips toward red and magenta. Run a nozzle check: a full cyan pattern with shifted colours means the cartridge is low, not clogged.

Can I replace cyan alone?

Yes. Individual cartridges exist for exactly this: swap the expended colour and leave the other slots — including the XL black — untouched.

Is the ink dye or pigment?

Our Specifications leave that field blank deliberately: the official sources for this family name the Claria system without a verified dye/pigment label, and we do not invent one. What is verified is the cartridge code, the Claria line and the 185-page ISO rating.

What about the cartridges marked 222-1 that came with the printer?

Those are the initial cartridges supplied in the box — the suffix marks them as starter cartridges, not a different family. Order replacements by the standard codes, like this T222220-S cyan.

Is a millilitre figure available?

No mL value is published in Epson's US documentation for the 222 family, so Volume stays blank on this page. Compare by the ISO yield instead.

Is it genuine Epson?

No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T222220-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page.

What does the lifetime warranty cover for this cyan?

A cartridge that will not recognise after troubleshooting, leaks, or prints poorly from new is replaced under the lifetime warranty. Free returns apply within the first year.

Cyan single or a set?

The single for a one-colour fix. If black is also running down, the Set of 4 (XL black plus the three standard colours) or the Set of 9 bulk box costs less per cartridge.
