Frequently Asked Questions

Why keep a second 30,000-page cartridge on the shelf for a 5310?

Because on a production printer, an empty cartridge is a stopped line. This 2-pack of 310-7238 cartridges puts one unit in your Dell 5310 and one in reserve, so a changeover takes minutes whenever the installed cartridge finishes — no emergency order, no waiting on a delivery while a queue of print jobs backs up behind a machine that cannot run.

What does the 2-pack do to the per-cartridge price?

The pair costs $304.12, which works out to $152.06 per cartridge against $161.30 bought singly — a saving of $18.48 across the two. Spread over the combined 60,000 rated pages, the per-page cost eases from about 0.54 cents to about 0.51 cents. It is a modest step down, bought with the continuity of always having the next cartridge in the building.

How much printing does 60,000 pages represent?

One hundred and twenty reams of paper. For a department turning out 5,000 pages a month, that is a full year of monochrome output from a single order; at double that volume, six months. Framing the purchase in months of coverage rather than cartridge count is the easiest way to see whether the 2-pack matches your 5310's actual appetite.

How should the spare cartridge be stored?

Sealed in its packaging, flat, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Toner cartridges keep well when left unopened, so there is no penalty for holding the second 310-7238 until the first is exhausted. Note the delivery date on the box when it arrives so the reserve is used in the order it was bought.

What happens if one of the two cartridges is faulty?

Each cartridge is covered individually by our one-year warranty and one-year free returns — a problem with the spare in month nine is handled the same way as a problem in week one. The returns steps are on our shipping and returns page, and support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central.

Are these genuine Dell cartridges?

No, they are compatible 310-7238 cartridges manufactured to the Dell 5310's specification and supplied through our Dell toner range at compatible pricing. Orders ship from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and the warranty terms are what stand behind the compatible choice.
