Frequently Asked Questions

What does one printed page actually cost with the 310-7890?

At $87.89 for a cartridge rated at 10,000 pages, the math works out to roughly 0.88 cents per page — about $8.79 for every 1,000 pages of black output. That is the full rated life at standard coverage; heavy graphics and dense pages will use toner faster, light text pages slower.

How long does 10,000 pages of black last in a real office?

It depends entirely on volume. A Dell Color Laser 5110 printing around 500 black pages a month stretches one 310-7890 across roughly 20 months; a workgroup pushing 2,000 black pages a month will finish it in about five. Ten thousand pages is also 20 standard reams of paper, which is a useful way to picture the supply you are buying.

Why does the black cartridge carry so much of the load on a color printer?

Even on a color machine like the 5110, 5110cn or 5110n, the everyday output — emails, invoices, reports, shipping labels — is overwhelmingly black text. The color cartridges sit mostly idle while the black 310-7890 does the daily work, which is why its 10,000-page rating matters more to running costs than any single color rating.

Can I replace just the black cartridge, or do all four have to change together?

Just the black. Each cartridge in the 5110 series is an independent unit, so when the 310-7890 runs out you swap that one and leave the colors in place until each of them is genuinely empty. If your cyan goes next, its matching cartridge is the 310-7892, and it is replaced the same way — one slot at a time.

Is this an original Dell cartridge?

No — this is a compatible cartridge built to the 310-7890 specification and sold under our own brand, which is how the price stays where it is. It is covered by a one-year warranty and one-year free returns, and if it does not perform in your 5110 you can send it back within that year at no cost; full terms are on our shipping and returns page.

How fast will my order ship, and who do I call with a problem?

Orders leave from whichever of our warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — gets the cartridge to you soonest. If anything looks off when it arrives or after you install it, our support team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central, and you can browse the rest of the range on our Dell toner page.

About This 310-7890 Black Cartridge

This is a single compatible black toner cartridge for the Dell Color Laser 5110 family — the 5110, 5110cn and 5110n. It is rated at 10,000 pages and priced at $87.89, which puts black printing at roughly 0.88 cents a page for the machine that handles most of an office's daily paperwork. Order by the code 310-7890 to be sure you are getting the black position; the colors for the same printers are separate cartridges with their own codes.
