Frequently Asked Questions

Why does yellow always seem to be the cartridge that catches a 5110 workgroup off guard?

Because yellow fades politely. A Dell Color Laser 5110 running low on yellow does not stop or stripe — it quietly shifts greens toward blue and drains the warmth from charts and photos, so the problem surfaces in a client document rather than on the printer's display. The 310-7896 is rated at up to 8,000 pages, and checking its level whenever another color is replaced is the simple habit that prevents the surprise.

What is the true running cost of the 310-7896?

Priced at $49.01 for up to 8,000 pages, the 310-7896 comes to about 0.61 cents per page. That is departmental-class economics: color pages cheap enough that printing drafts, charts and internal reports in color stops being a budget discussion. The small premium over the magenta in this set buys the same 8,000-page capacity in the yellow slot.

Is the 310-7896 the right yellow for the 5110cn?

Yes — the 310-7896 is the yellow cartridge for the Dell Color Laser 5110, 5110cn and 5110n alike; the three models share one cartridge set. Confirm with the code on the cartridge you pull from the yellow slot: 310-7896 is the yellow's own number, distinct from the neighboring codes on the other colors, and matching it guarantees the right cartridge arrives.

What if I install the 310-7896 and the color is still off?

Start with a calibration page and a fresh look: if greens are still blue after a new yellow, another cartridge or a printer setting is at fault. Either way you are covered — the 310-7896 carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns policy, and our support team (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST) will help you isolate the real cause before you spend on another cartridge.

Can I change just the yellow in a 5110, mid-run?

Yes. The 5110's four cartridges are independent, and swapping the 310-7896 alone takes a few minutes with the printer paused. Print one page containing green foliage or a color chart afterward: correct greens are the fastest proof that the yellow is feeding properly and the job can resume.

From which warehouse does the 310-7896 ship?

We route each order from the nearest of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — that holds stock. The companion colors for the 5110 and the rest of the range are on our Dell toner page, making it easy for an office to keep one reorder source for the whole set.
