Frequently Asked Questions

Who buys toner eight cartridges at a time?

Offices running a 5100 hard enough that running dry costs more than shelf space. This set draws eight cartridges from the family's four numbers — 310-5807 black, 310-5810 cyan, 310-5809 magenta and 310-5808 yellow — so a department can refill any slot from its own stockroom instead of waiting on a shipment. The honest counterpoint: if your 5100 prints lightly, eight cartridges is more stock than sense, and the 4-cartridge set at $130.39 will serve you better.

What does the bulk buy save against two standard sets?

Two 4-cartridge sets would cost $260.78; this 8-cartridge set is $242.28, a saving of $18.50. The average per cartridge drops to about $30.29. The discount is modest per unit — the real return on an 8-pack is continuity, not a dramatic price break, and the numbers here say exactly that.

How do the ratings hold up across eight cartridges?

Every black drawn from the 310-5807 carries the family's 9,000-page rating; every color — 310-5810 cyan, 310-5809 magenta, 310-5808 yellow — carries 8,000 pages. By class, that keeps the black at roughly 0.36 cents per page and each color at roughly 0.41 cents, the same per-page economics as the smaller sets. Because the black outrates the colors, a shared 5100 still consumes its colors first; the stock simply means the replacement is already on site.

Are these original Dell cartridges?

No. They are compatible cartridges built to the 310-5807, 310-5810, 310-5809 and 310-5808 specifications, made by a third-party manufacturer rather than Dell. Identity comes from the part numbers; protection comes from our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, which cover all eight cartridges alike.

How should a stock of eight be stored and rotated?

Keep the boxes together, install the oldest first, and treat the set as a small bin for the 5100 rather than eight separate purchases. The slots still empty one at a time — a fresh 310-5810 cyan goes in alone while the rest wait — so rotation is simply a matter of pulling from the front of the shelf. No cartridge needs to be installed before you are ready for it.

What are the delivery and returns terms on a bulk set?

The set ships from the closest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, under the terms on our shipping and returns page. The rest of the family's compatible options are on our Dell toner page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
