Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this color set not include a black cartridge?

Because it is built purely as a color refresh: one 310-5810 cyan, one 310-5809 magenta and one 310-5808 yellow, each rated at 8,000 pages. The 5100cn's black cartridge lives on its own replacement cycle — in a workgroup printer, black usually drains steadily on documents while the colors drain in bursts on reports and presentations — so black is stocked and ordered separately rather than bundled in here.

What do I save by taking the three colors as a set?

The three cartridges individually total $137.37. The set is $100.38, a saving of $36.99, and it brings each high-yield color down to about $33.46. Same cartridges, same 8,000-page rating on each — the set price is simply what you get for restocking all three color positions in a single order instead of three separate ones.

What does the 8,000-page rating on each color mean in practice?

Ratings are measured at 5% coverage of that color on the page. A dense color chart or full-bleed graphic draws far more than 5%, while a text page with a colored heading draws far less, so real life lands somewhere in between. Even allowing for that, 8,000 pages per color is a long runway for a workgroup machine — these are the high-yield versions, sized for printers that print color as a routine, not a rarity.

Our cyan always dies first. Can I replace just that one?

Yes — each cartridge installs independently, and uneven wear is completely normal: printers that live on charts, maps or blue-heavy branding genuinely do consume cyan faster. Swap the empty color, leave the other two sealed until their turn, and the set simply becomes your shelf stock for the next two color changes as well.

Are these genuine Dell cartridges?

No. They are compatible cartridges made to the 310-5810, 310-5809 and 310-5808 specifications rather than Dell originals, and they are backed accordingly: a 1-year warranty plus 1-year free returns, set out on our shipping & returns page.

How quickly can a workgroup get this set, and who do we call with a problem?

We ship from four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — so the set leaves from the one best positioned for your address. Support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central Time, and the rest of the range for this printer family is gathered on the Dell toner page.

About This Dell 5100 3 Color Set

This set restocks all three color positions of the Dell 5100cn in one box: the 310-5810 cyan, 310-5809 magenta and 310-5808 yellow, each a high-yield cartridge rated at 8,000 pages — 24,000 pages of color capacity in total. At $100.38 it saves $36.99 against the $137.37 the same three cartridges cost one at a time. Black is intentionally excluded and is reordered on its own schedule.
