Frequently Asked Questions

Our prints have turned greenish and the reds look orange — is the magenta running out?

Very likely, yes. Magenta is the color that warms everything up: reds, skin tones, and purples all depend on it. When the 331-0717 in your Dell 2150 runs low, blues and greens take over the page, reds slide toward orange, and photos start to look cold. Black text stays crisp because the black cartridge is doing that work — which is exactly why the color shift can sneak up on you.

Do I have to replace all four cartridges when only the magenta is empty?

No. Each color in the 2150cdn, 2150cn and 2155cdn is its own cartridge and can be changed on its own schedule. Swap just the magenta, leave the healthy cartridges in place, and the color balance comes back. There is no need to buy a full set because one channel ran dry.

How long will 2,500 pages of magenta last in our office?

It depends entirely on how much color you run. At roughly 50 color pages a week, a 331-0717 rated at 2,500 pages lasts close to a year. At 250 color pages a week, plan on about ten weeks. Photo-heavy work shortens those spans; mostly-text documents with a color logo stretch them well beyond.

When is the right moment to order a replacement?

At the printer's first low-magenta warning — not when the pages already look wrong. The warning arrives while there is still usable toner in the cartridge, so a replacement ordered then normally lands before the old one gives up. Waiting for visible fading usually means a gap in color printing.

How should I store the spare before I need it?

Keep it sealed in its bag, flat, in a cool dry cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Stored that way, a spare 331-0717 waits patiently on the shelf and performs as rated when its turn comes. Don't open the bag early "just to check" — the seal is what keeps the toner fresh.

What backing comes with this cartridge?

It is a compatible cartridge for the Dell 2150 family, and it carries a 1-year warranty plus 1-year free returns — if it fails or the output disappoints within the year, you can send it back instead of eating the cost. Details are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses, and support is on hand Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. More of the range lives on our Dell toner page.
