Frequently Asked Questions

I'm costing out a year of printing for the MF653CDW. How do I think about this pack?

Start with the two numbers that matter: $110.07 buys 2,700 rated pages of black — two Canon 067 cartridges (5102C001) at 1,350 pages each. Estimate your monthly document volume, divide it into 2,700, and you have the months this pack covers. Budget the colors separately and more loosely; in a document-driven machine they are a minor line next to black. That is a complete, honest consumables budget for this printer in one paragraph.

Is the pair actually better value than singles, in those budget terms?

Yes, measurably. Singles at $64.27 make two cartridges $128.54; the pack is $110.07, or $55.04 a cartridge — $18.47 saved per cycle, and per-page cost eased from about 4.76¢ to roughly 4.08¢. On an annual budget the pack simply buys the same toner for less money.

Which cartridges are these, for the record?

Two standard-yield compatible Canon 067 black toner cartridges, part number 5102C001, for the Color imageCLASS MF653CDW. Verify against the label of the cartridge in the machine. The color companions are the 067 cyan (5101C001), magenta (5100C001) and yellow (5099C001); a high-yield 067H black (5106C001) exists for higher-volume service.

How do I time the reorder so the printer never stops?

The elegant feature of the pair is that time pressure disappears. Fit cartridge one, and cartridge two is your buffer — when it goes in, that is your reorder signal, with a full 1,350-page cartridge buying you weeks of calm to place the next order. Shipments dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, so replenishment is quick in any case.

Any storage rules for the cartridge sitting in the budget cupboard?

Sealed in its box, flat, cool and dry. Toner powder does not dry out or settle into uselessness on the shelf, so the second 5102C001 keeps its full rated life until the day it is fitted. Buy on your budget calendar, not on the printer's emergency schedule.

What if a cartridge in the pack proves faulty mid-year?

The one-year warranty and one-year free returns apply per cartridge, as detailed on our shipping and returns page. A failure is replaced or refunded without disturbing the rest of your budget plan. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
