Frequently Asked Questions

Several of us share the MF733Cdw. How does the set change our routine?

It moves toner from a recurring emergency to a stocked supply. This Canon 046H set puts one of each cartridge on site — black 046HBK rated at up to 6,300 pages, and 046HC cyan, 046HM magenta, 046HY yellow at up to 5,000 pages each — so when the shared machine flags a low slot, whoever is standing there swaps in the spare and prints on. Nobody has to place an order, chase a delivery or leave a job half-printed for the next person.

What is the saving against buying the four cartridges separately?

The four Canon 046H singles come to $144.69 in total. The set is $89.21, so $55.48 stays in the budget — about 38% — and the effective price per cartridge works out near $22.30. For a workgroup machine that steadily eats toner, buying at the set price rather than the single price is the simplest running-cost cut available.

Which cartridge will the MF733Cdw ask for first?

Almost always the black. Shared machines live on documents — emails, forms, reports — and text draws almost entirely on the 046HBK. The colors only move when color goes on the page, though one person's color-heavy project can pull cyan, magenta and yellow down together. Expect to replace black more often than any color, which is exactly why the colors from a set often end up serving as long-lived shelf spares.

Does it matter that our four cartridges are different ages?

Only cosmetically. Slots are independent, so a new 046HC beside an older magenta causes no mechanical issue. What staggered ages can do is make color output drift — a fresh color prints at full strength next to a fading one, and the imbalance shows. A set gives you the option of a clean start: fit all four together when the drift becomes noticeable, and the machine is back on one clock.

How should we store the cartridges we are not fitting yet?

Leave them sealed in their packaging, flat, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, in the same room conditions as ordinary office supplies. Each cartridge in the set is individually sealed, so the ones held back stay fresh until their turn comes. Avoid the top of the printer itself as a storage spot — it is the warmest place in the room.

What cover does the set carry if a cartridge disappoints?

Each cartridge is covered on its own: these compatible Canon 046H cartridges come with a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, handled cartridge by cartridge rather than set by set. The policy in full is on our shipping and returns page. Orders leave from the closest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
