Frequently Asked Questions

What does a page cost when we run this set instead of singles?

Work it from the ratings: the black 046HBK is rated at up to 6,300 pages and the 046HC cyan, 046HM magenta and 046HY yellow at up to 5,000 pages each. Bought one by one, those four Canon 046H cartridges total $144.69; the set is $89.21, so the per-cartridge average falls to about $22.30 and the saving is $55.48 — roughly 38% — before you count a cent of delivery. In page terms the set spreads its price across a 6,300-page black and three 5,000-page colors, which is why high-yield sets undercut the same cartridges bought singly.

Do the four cartridges arrive as one unit or four separate cartridges?

Four separate cartridges, one per slot, each sealed on its own inside the set packaging: black 046HBK, cyan 046HC, magenta 046HM and yellow 046HY. That matters because it leaves the fitting order up to you — swap all four in one session for a clean reset, or fit only the empty slot today and keep the other three sealed on the shelf as spares.

Our four cartridges never run out together. Does a set still make sense?

Usually, yes — as a shelf strategy rather than a single swap. Black does the heavy lifting in most offices, so the 046HBK will call for replacement long before the colors do. With the set in the cupboard, every low-toner warning becomes a two-minute change instead of a new order and a delivery wait, and the price you locked in is the set price, not four single prices paid at four separate moments of desperation.

How is this different from the standard Canon 046 set?

Yield class. This is the Canon 046H line: 6,300 pages on the black and 5,000 on each color. The standard Canon 046 family is rated at 2,200 pages on its black and 2,300 on its colors, and at this store its singles sit at the same shelf prices as the 046H singles — so for the same money per cartridge, the H set carries roughly double the pages. The standard set suits a printer that barely works; this one suits a machine in daily service.

Can we mix cartridges from this set with ones already in the printer?

Yes. Each slot takes its own cartridge independently, so a fresh 046HC from this set can sit alongside a part-used magenta and yellow that still have life in them. There is no pairing or set-matching between the slots; the printer only cares that the cartridge in each slot is the right Canon 046 family cartridge for that color position.

What protection comes with the set, and where does it ship from?

Every cartridge in the set is a compatible cartridge covered individually by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — a fault in one color is handled on that cartridge alone, never by returning the whole set. The details are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from whichever of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses is closest to you, and the support team is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
