Frequently Asked Questions

The MF4420n serves several computers — why does it always seem to run dry at the worst moment?

Because on a networked machine, no single user sees the whole picture. Each person prints their share, the cartridge quietly absorbs the team's combined total, and the first anyone knows of the end is a faded page in the middle of a deadline. The fix is organisational, not technical: a sealed spare beside the machine and a house rule that whoever fits the spare orders the next one. With this cartridge at $26.19, keeping one waiting costs less than one stalled morning.

How long will the team's printing take to finish 2,100 pages?

Add the desks together. Three people printing 150 pages each a month put 450 pages a month through one cartridge — it is done in under five months. A pair of light users at 200 pages combined can stretch the same cartridge past ten months. The 2,100-page rating assumes standard 5% coverage, so presentation decks and dense handouts pull the real figure down a little, while everyday letters and forms sit close to it.

Is this the right cartridge for the imageCLASS MF4420n?

It is. The networked MF4420n uses the same Canon 128 cartridge as its USB-only sibling, and this listing is that cartridge in black, rated for 2,100 pages. Confirm against the label of the unit you remove — 128 is the number to see. A cartridge change touches nothing in the machine's network configuration; once the new one is seated and the cover closed, every connected computer can print again.

Does a shared machine argue for the single or the multi-pack?

Run the honest arithmetic. A single at $26.19 is about 1.25 cents a page — simple, low-commitment, and perfectly reasonable while you are learning the team's true volume. But a cartridge serving several desks gets changed on the team's schedule, not yours, and that is when the multi-pack versions of the Canon 128 earn their place: the per-cartridge price falls sharply, and a small stack by the machine ends the dry-at-deadline problem entirely. Same cartridge, same rating — only the buying pattern changes.

One person's prints are fine and another's are streaky — what does that tell us?

That the streaks probably live in a document, not the cartridge. A shared cartridge cannot favour one computer over another; if the fault follows a particular file — a scanned form, a shaded template — the file is the cause. If the same streaks appear on everyone's output in the same position, then it is the cartridge: lift it out, rock it gently side to side to level the toner, and retest. Recovery means settled toner; no recovery on a cartridge under a year old means a warranty claim, which we will honour.

If the cartridge fails, what exactly are we covered for?

A 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if the cartridge does not perform — full stop, whether it fails in week one or month eleven. The terms are set out on our shipping & returns page. Shipments leave from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support staff answer Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
