Frequently Asked Questions

Everyone in the office prints to the D1180. How do we keep its toner simple?

By remembering one code: C120BK, the Canon 120 black cartridge. It is the only consumable the D1180 asks for, so there is no colour set to manage and no wrong-cartridge mix-ups. One shared printer, one cartridge type, one spare in the cupboard — that is the whole system.

How far does one cartridge go with several people printing?

The rating is 5,000 pages. Shared machines eat pages faster than personal ones — a busy small team can work through that in a couple of months — but at $32.42 a cartridge the D1180 is still printing at roughly 0.65 cents a page, and the low-toner warning gives you time to swap in the spare and reorder.

What is the fair way to think about the multi-pack prices?

As volume discounts on the identical cartridge. The C120BK is the same unit whether it arrives singly at $32.42 or in the packs in this range, where the per-cartridge price falls as the box grows. For a shared D1180, a mid-size pack usually hits the balance: cheaper cartridges, and enough spares that running out stops being an office event.

A colleague says compatibles risk the printer. What is the counter-argument?

Two parts. First, this cartridge is a compatible equivalent of the Canon 120, built for the machines that take it — the D1180 included. Second, if this particular unit fails you, it carries our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so the risk sits with us rather than with your printer budget. The full terms are on the shipping and returns page.

Pages have started streaking. Is that the cartridge?

It can be. Streaks and uneven grey patches often mean the toner is nearly gone and distributing poorly; rocking the C120BK gently side to side settles it temporarily. If the marks persist with a fresh cartridge fitted, the cause lies elsewhere in the machine — and our support team can help you think it through Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

Where will our order come from?

We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, so a shared office printer's supplies never have far to travel — handy when several people's work depends on the same machine.
