Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 45,000-page yield mean on a production copier?

It means one GPR17BK cartridge covers a serious stretch of output before anyone has to think about toner again. The 45,000-page rating is measured at the standard 5% page coverage, and on a high-volume machine that translates into weeks of heavy copying and printing from a single install. For a device that other offices would feed with a stack of ordinary cartridges, this one Canon GPR-17 cartridge does the whole run.

What does the toner itself cost per page?

At $88.00 for a rated 45,000 pages, the toner cost works out to roughly 0.20 cents per page. That is the cartridge cost only — paper and the machine itself are separate — but at production volumes it is the number purchasing teams use to compare supply options, and at this yield class it stays very low even before any pack discounts enter the picture.

Can we run a GPR-24 cartridge in a machine that takes the GPR-17, or the other way around?

No. The Canon GPR-17 and Canon GPR-24 are separate cartridge families built for different machines, and one does not substitute for the other even though both are high-yield black copier cartridges. Before ordering, match the code on the cartridge coming out of the device: if it reads GPR17BK, this is your cartridge; if it reads GPR-24, you need the GPR24BK listing instead.

Is this a genuine Canon cartridge?

No — this is a compatible GPR17BK cartridge, built to deliver the same 45,000-page rated yield for machines that take the Canon GPR-17, at a supply-room price rather than an original-brand price. It is covered by a one-year warranty, so a unit that misbehaves is a warranty matter, not a write-off.

What happens if the cartridge fails in the middle of a long run?

Contact support and the cartridge is handled under the one-year warranty and the one-year free returns policy — the full terms are on our shipping & returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, which matches the hours most production floors are running.

How should a spare GPR-17 be stored?

Keep it sealed in its box, flat, at normal room temperature and out of direct sunlight and heat sources. Copier toner is stable in storage when it is kept dry and unopened, so a spare on the supply shelf next to the machine is standard practice. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, so a replacement ordered as a run finishes is never far away.
