Frequently Asked Questions

Let us do the maths first: what does one page cost with this cartridge?

This single C120BK cartridge costs $32.42 and is rated for 5,000 pages, which works out to roughly 0.65 cents per page. That is the honest cost of running the Canon 120 cartridge in its one-at-a-time form — no bulk discount, but also no money tied up in stock you have not used yet.

How long is 5,000 pages in real life?

It depends entirely on your monthly volume. At 250 pages a month, this cartridge covers you for well over a year and a half. At 500 pages a month, expect around ten months. Offices printing 1,000 pages a month will see roughly five months from it. However you print, the C120BK gives you a long runway before the next order.

Which cartridge am I actually replacing?

You are replacing the Canon 120 black cartridge, also listed under the code C120BK. It is the single black toner cartridge these imageCLASS machines use — there are no separate colour cartridges to track, and one swap handles all of your black-and-white printing. The cartridge is made for the imageCLASS D1120, D1150, D1170, D1180, D1320, D1350, D1370, D1520 and D1550 — whichever of them sits on your desk, this is the black cartridge it takes.

My prints are coming out light. Is the cartridge finished?

Not necessarily. As any toner cartridge nears the end, the remaining powder settles and pages can fade unevenly. Take the C120BK out, rock it gently side to side a few times to redistribute the toner, and reinsert it — you will often get a good number of clean pages back. When pages stay grey even after that, the cartridge really is done.

Is this a genuine Canon cartridge?

No — this is a compatible C120BK cartridge built to match the Canon 120's fit and page yield, sold at a compatible price. It is made to work in place of the original, and it is covered like everything else we sell: if it lets you down, the warranty and returns terms below have you covered.

What protection do I get with it?

Every compatible cartridge we sell carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, and this one is no exception. The full wording lives on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our support team is around Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, if anything about the cartridge is not right.
