Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 5 pack bring the per-cartridge price down to?

$20.82 per cartridge — against $35.60 for a single — and roughly 0.61 cents per page across the pack's 17,000 rated pages (five Canon 118 cartridges at 3,400 pages each). Buying the same five cartridges one at a time would cost $178.00; the pack is $104.09, so the saving is $73.91. This is the deepest discount in the Canon 118 family, and it exists for a straightforward reason: one shipment, one transaction, five cartridges moved at once. Offices with real volume should be buying at this tier or explaining to themselves why not.

Who actually uses 17,000 pages of black toner?

More offices than expect to. A department printing 1,400 black pages a month — a few hundred invoices, reports and scanned copies a week on an MF8580CDW — finishes one cartridge in about ten weeks and clears this pack in a year. A smaller office at 700 pages a month stretches it to two years. The Canon 118 (2662B001AA) is the black cartridge for a whole platform of imageCLASS machines, so a workplace running two or three of them pools the pack across machines and gets through it faster than any single-printer estimate suggests.

Does storing five cartridges cause quality problems?

Not if you store them like supplies rather than clutter: sealed in their bags, flat, in a cool dry cupboard, away from windows and heat. Date each box on arrival and always install the oldest. The 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns cover defects and performance problems on every cartridge in the pack, so the financial risk of a deep shelf is low; the practical discipline is just rotation. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page.

Which printers does this pack cover?

The full Canon 118 platform: imageCLASS MF8350, MF8350CDN, MF8380, MF8380CDW, MF8330, MF8330CDN and MF8580CDW multifunction machines, and LBP7200, LBP7200CDN, LBP7660 and LBP7660CDN printers. Verify against the part number 2662B001AA on your current cartridge or in your manual — that number, not the marketing name, is the guarantee of a match.

Is a 5 pack sensible if we might change printer brands next year?

It depends on your burn rate, and you should run the number before ordering: divide 17,000 by your monthly black volume. If the pack lasts beyond your planned changeover, step down to the 3 pack and accept the slightly higher per-cartridge price — stranded toner is the one genuinely bad outcome. If the pack clears in under a year, the $73.91 saving is real money for a risk you are unlikely to meet. Questions like this are exactly what our support team is for, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How is a pack this size delivered?

From the closest of our four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — as a single domestic shipment. Five cartridges travel in one parcel, one tracking number, one delivery to sign for; there is no split shipment and no overseas leg to wait on.
