Frequently Asked Questions

Yellow seems to last forever anyway — why buy the biggest one?

Because when yellow finally does give out, it tends to happen at the worst moment, and a low yellow quietly distorts every color on the page long before the printer complains. The TN439Y is rated at 9,000 pages, the most of any yellow for this platform. Stocking it means yellow is the one supply you essentially never have to think about.

What are the warning signs that yellow is running low?

Watch your greens and warm tones. As yellow fades, greens slide toward blue, oranges lose their warmth, and highlighted sections print pale or disappear entirely. The printer's toner gauge will confirm it, but your output usually tells the story first.

Which printers does the TN439Y fit?

The TN439Y is made for HL-L9310CDW, HL-L9310CDWT, HL-L9310CDWTT and MFC-L9570CDW. It is the top-yield yellow for those models, and it works alongside any mix of TN433, TN436, and TN439 cartridges in the remaining slots.

Does a low yellow cartridge affect plain black-and-white printing?

For true monochrome jobs, no — the printer uses only the black cartridge. But many "black" documents actually contain gray shading and scanned images that pull in color toner. Keeping a healthy yellow installed protects the quality of everything the machine produces, not just obvious color pages.

Can I buy this now and keep it on the shelf for a long time?

Yes, that is a sensible way to buy it. Leave the cartridge sealed in its packaging, store it flat at room temperature away from sunlight, and it will be ready whenever the installed yellow finally fades. Toner powder does not dry out, so a long shelf stay costs you nothing in performance.

What protection comes with this cartridge?

It is warranted for a full year from purchase, and returns are free during that same year if the cartridge fails to perform. You will find the complete policy on our shipping and returns page. Questions before you buy are welcome too — support hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This TN439Y Yellow Toner Cartridge

The TN439Y gives Brother's mid-size color laser platform its longest-lasting yellow supply: a rated 9,000 pages at $37.48, or about 0.42 cents per page. It is a smart set-and-forget purchase for any office that prints color, because aging yellow is the most common hidden cause of dull, off-tone output.
