Features:
It is not a mistake, and we would rather point it out than let you wonder. In this family, the MICR version of the Canon CRG-125 (3484B001AA) is listed at exactly the standard cartridge's price of $26.46. That is unusual — MICR toner normally carries a specialty premium, and in our Canon 128 family it does. Here it does not. If you print checks, you are getting the magnetic toner at the standard price, which makes this the simplest buying decision in the range.
MICR — Magnetic Ink Character Recognition — toner contains magnetic particles, so the routing and account numbers printed along the bottom of a check produce a magnetic signal that bank processing equipment reads automatically. A standard cartridge prints the same line so it looks identical to the eye, but there is no magnetic signal, and checks can be rejected or routed into slower manual processing. For check printing, MICR is the functional requirement, not a luxury.
The cartridge is rated for up to 1,600 pages, and a check page typically carries light coverage — the MICR line, payee, amount and memo — so check runs sit comfortably inside that rating. At 100 checks a month, one cartridge covers well over a year of check printing. The running cost works out to about 1.65 cents per page, the same as the standard cartridge.
Yes. MICR toner prints ordinary text cleanly, and at this price there is no economic reason to swap cartridges back and forth — the usual argument for keeping a separate standard cartridge (the MICR premium) does not apply here. Many small offices simply run this cartridge for everything: checks when needed, documents the rest of the time.
Three things matter: MICR toner (this cartridge), correct placement of the MICR line on proper check stock, and healthy print density. A faded line is the most common failure, so if output looks light, remove the cartridge and rock it gently side to side to redistribute the toner. Print a small test batch first and confirm acceptance with your bank before committing to a long run.
The same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns as every cartridge we sell — if it fails, leaks, or prints poorly, we replace it or refund it; terms are on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
This is a single compatible Canon CRG-125 MICR black toner cartridge (part number 3484B001AA) with magnetic toner for bank-readable check printing, rated for up to 1,600 pages and priced at $26.46 — about 1.65 cents per page, and notably the same price as the standard CRG-125 single. For a small business printing its own checks on a compact imageCLASS printer, it removes the usual MICR premium entirely. Standard and multi-pack listings are on our Canon toner collection.
