MFC-J835DW

Brother MFC-J835DW printer

The Brother MFC-J835DW runs on this family's two lower tiers: the standard LC71 (300 pages per cartridge) and the high-yield LC75 (600 pages per cartridge) in the same slots — the compatible LC75 singles, the black-weighted Set of 9 below are the high-yield half of that pairing, chipped and covered by a lifetime warranty. The LC79 super-high cartridges do not fit this model.

MFC-J835DW Ink — LC75 Is This Printer's Top Tier

The MFC-J835DW's own pairing is LC71 below and LC75 above: same slots, double the pages (300 against 600 per cartridge, ISO/IEC 24711). The LC75 cartridges on this page are the official high-yield counterpart to the standard LC71 — which is why this store sells the LC75 as the step-up for this printer rather than opening a separate LC71 range. The third tier in the family, LC79, is not an option here at all: the MFC-J835DW physically cannot accept an LC79 cartridge, and sellers who list it as fitting are wrong.

The MFC-J835DW rewards black-weighted buying: its weekly-print set puts four blacks beside two of each color, because black is the position that empties first in most homes — and every one of those cartridges is an LC75. Brother rates both of this printer's tiers to ISO/IEC 24711, so the LC75's up to 600 pages against the standard tier's 300 is like for like: double the fill, same slots, $8.24 a cartridge, about 1.4 cents a page. The LC79 super-high tier does not fit this model at all, so LC75 is the ceiling — and, as the only tier covering all 11 printers in the family, the safest code in the range to keep on the shelf. Singles are stocked too, for owners who only need one color at a time.

Which LC75 should you buy?

  • One color at a time: black, cyan, magenta and yellow — $8.24 each.
  • Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($29.94) puts one of each color in one box.
  • Print every week: the Set of 10 ($67.35) puts four blacks and two of each color in one box.

Chip, ink and everyday use

For the MFC-J835DW, replacement is one slot at a time: four slots, four separate chipped cartridges, each changed on its own. A fresh cartridge goes in held by the housing, fingers away from the chip contact. Every Clever Supplies LC75 cartridge carries a lifetime warranty with 1-year free returns.
