MFC-J280W

The MFC-J280W's own pairing is LC71 below and LC75 above: same slots, double the pages (300 against 600 per cartridge, ISO/IEC 24711). The LC75 cartridges on this page are the official high-yield counterpart to the standard LC71 — which is why this store sells the LC75 as the step-up for this printer rather than opening a separate LC71 range. The third tier in the family, LC79, is not an option here at all: the MFC-J280W physically cannot accept an LC79 cartridge, and sellers who list it as fitting are wrong.

For the MFC-J280W, LC75 is the end of the ladder — there is no larger cartridge coming later for this model, and the LC79 super-high tier does not fit it at all. That makes the math simple: Brother rates both of this printer's tiers to ISO/IEC 24711, so the standard LC71's 300 pages and the LC75's 600 are a like-for-like comparison, and the LC75 doubles the fill in the same slots. At $8.24 for up to 600 pages, each LC75 works out at about 1.4 cents a page. Singles and two sets are stocked, so a black-heavy owner never has to buy colors just to get black — and as the only tier covering all 11 printers in the family, LC75 is the safest code here to keep on the shelf.

Which LC75 should you buy?

One color at a time: black, cyan, magenta and yellow — $8.24 each.
Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($29.94) puts one of each color in one box.
Print every week: the Set of 10 ($67.35) puts four blacks and two of each color in one box.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Four slots, four separate chipped cartridges: on the MFC-J280W each position is replaced on its own, so an empty color never forces the other three out with it. Fit a new cartridge by its housing and keep fingers off the chip contact. Every Clever Supplies LC75 cartridge carries a lifetime warranty with 1-year free returns.
