Frequently Asked Questions

Which toner does the Brother MFC-9970 use?

The MFC-9970 uses the Brother TN310 standard-yield toner series (black ~2,500 pages, each color ~1,500 pages) or the Brother TN315 high-yield series (black ~6,000 pages, each color ~3,500 pages), paired with the Brother DR310CL drum unit (~25,000 pages).

What is the difference between the TN310 and the TN315?

Both fit the same printers. The TN315 is the high-yield version — about 6,000 black / 3,500 color pages versus about 2,500 black / 1,500 color for the TN310 — so it costs less per page if you print a lot.

Are the cartridges on this page original or compatible?

Both — this page carries compatible TN310 and TN315 replacements as well as genuine Brother OEM TN310 and TN315 toner cartridges and the genuine Brother DR310CL drum.
