Frequently Asked Questions

Our company red keeps printing orange — is the magenta cartridge behind it?

Very likely. A printed red is magenta laid over yellow, and when the TN310M runs low the yellow side of the recipe takes over, pushing reds toward orange and pinks toward peach. Skin tones in photos go the same way. Check the magenta block on a test print: a pale or uneven block confirms the magenta is spent, and a fresh TN310M brings the red back without touching any settings.

What am I paying per page with the TN310M?

The cartridge sells at $108.55, down from a $151.97 list price, and it is rated at 1,500 pages, which works out near 7.2 cents a rated page. That is in line with the other colours in this family — cyan and yellow are priced identically — and reflects the smaller fill a standard-yield colour cartridge carries compared with the black.

Which machines use the TN310M?

Brother's HL-4140CN, HL-4150CDN, HL-4570CDW and HL-4570CDWT printers; the MFC-9460CDN, MFC-9560CDW and MFC-9970CDW all-in-ones; and the DCP-9055CDN and DCP-9270CDN. Every one of them takes the TN310M in its magenta slot — the code is printed on the label of the cartridge you remove.

Can I fit a fresh magenta alongside older cyan and yellow cartridges?

Yes, without any issue. The four slots are independent and each cartridge is metered on its own, so a new TN310M works alongside colours at any remaining level. Colours do not need matched ages or matched yields to print correctly; replace each one as its own output starts to suffer.

Is the high-yield magenta worth considering instead?

If your colour volume is heavy, it can be. The TN315M is this family's high-yield magenta at 3,500 rated pages — more than double this cartridge — for the same machines, and it brings the per-page cost down noticeably. For a machine that prints colour occasionally, the TN310M's lower upfront price is the sensible side of the trade. Both are genuine Brother; the difference is purely fill size.

How do returns and warranty work for this cartridge?

The store's commitment on genuine Brother stock is a 30-day return window from delivery, in all cases, set out in full on our shipping and returns page. After that, the cartridge is covered by Brother's own manufacturer warranty. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, if anything about the order needs attention.

The genuine Brother TN310M — the magenta cartridge for the HL-4150CDN, HL-4570CDW and MFC-9970CDW generation, rated at 1,500 pages and priced at $108.55 against a $151.97 list.
