    Frequently Asked Questions

Our company red is coming off the machine orange, and the purples have gone blue. Is the magenta cartridge the culprit?

Almost certainly, and the colour shifts themselves are the fingerprint. A laser printer has no red toner and no purple toner: it builds red by laying magenta over yellow, and purple by laying magenta over cyan. Take magenta out of either recipe and the mix collapses toward the surviving partner — red slides to orange, purple slides to blue, and pink tones wash out entirely. So when the complaint is specifically about reds and purples while greens and blues still look respectable, the magenta bay is where the evidence points. On these departmental WorkCentres the confirmation takes a minute: print the machine's colour test pattern and look at the magenta patch. If it prints pale, streaky or broken while its neighbours are solid, the 006R01515 in that bay is spent, whatever the page counter suggests.

Will a compatible magenta hold our brand colours, or will the red drift?

Brand red is the hardest test you can set a magenta cartridge, because it sits at full strength in the mix — there is no dilution to hide behind. This 006R01515 is formulated to the same colour target as the original cartridge for this platform, so the red your logo files specify is the red the machine is set up to mix. The sensible routine with any newly fitted cartridge, original or compatible, is a proof before a run: print one sheet of your letterhead or logo page, hold it against a sheet you approved earlier, and check the red in daylight. If the proof matches, the run will match. Where an office prints colour-critical work all day, that thirty-second check after each swap is worth more than any specification sheet — and it is the same check a print shop runs on a press costing a hundred times more.

Fifteen thousand pages sounds abstract. How long is that between swaps on a departmental machine?

Translate it through your own colour volume. The 15,000-page rating assumes the standard 5% coverage test page, so treat it as a yardstick rather than a promise. A department that puts roughly 1,500 colour pages a month through its WorkCentre is looking at the better part of a year from one 006R01515; a busier floor at 3,000 colour pages a month will change it in around five months. Magenta's share of that work matters too: a machine whose colour output is heavy on charts, marketing sheets and red-branded documents draws on magenta harder than one printing mostly blue-toned reports, so two identical machines can empty the same cartridge months apart. Either way, on a platform built for departmental volume the magenta swap is a rare event, not a recurring chore — which is exactly why the low-level warning deserves acting on the day it appears, rather than being left until the cartridge is a distant memory.

Which machines does this cartridge fit — does one magenta really serve the whole 75 and 78 series range?

It does: fourteen models across both generations of Xerox's departmental colour line, because the ConnectKey redesign changed the controller, not the toner bay. The range runs from the WorkCentre 7525, WorkCentre 7530, WorkCentre 7535, WorkCentre 7545 and WorkCentre 7556 of the original series to the ConnectKey models — the WorkCentre 7830 and WorkCentre 7830i, WorkCentre 7835 and WorkCentre 7835i, WorkCentre 7845 and WorkCentre 7845i, WorkCentre 7855 and WorkCentre 7855i — up to the WorkCentre 7970 at the top of the line. The "i" suffix denotes the ConnectKey build of the same machine, not a different supply. For a mixed fleet — an older 7545 on one floor, a 7855i on another — that means a single magenta on the shelf covers both. The ten-second confirmation before ordering: slide the magenta cartridge out and read the code on it; if it says 006R01515, this is its replacement.

What does the magenta position add to the cost of a colour page?

Do the division once and the number stays with you: $58.63 for a cartridge rated at 15,000 pages puts the magenta share at about 0.39 cents per rated page. There is nothing wrapped around it — no per-click contract, no service bundle, no minimum monthly volume — just a cartridge bought outright when the old one runs down. Departments that are quoted a single blended colour rate by a managed-print provider often find it instructive to break that rate into its four toner shares; the magenta share, at well under half a cent, is rarely where the money is going.

If the cartridge arrives damaged or fails early, what happens — and how quickly can we get one?

Every 006R01515 carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a cartridge that turns up damaged or gives up early is replaced or refunded without an argument. Delivery runs from whichever of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — is nearest to you, and the full terms are on the shipping & returns page. If you would like us to confirm the code against your model before you order, our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The remaining colours and the rest of this platform's supplies sit in the Xerox section of the store.

About This Xerox 006R01515 Magenta Toner Cartridge

One compatible magenta toner cartridge, part number 006R01515, rated at 15,000 pages and priced at $58.63 — about 0.39 cents per rated page. Magenta is the colour a department notices most when it goes: it is half of every red the machine prints, the difference between purple and blue, and the warmth in printed skin tones. This single cartridge serves both generations of Xerox's departmental colour platform — the WorkCentre 7525, 7530, 7535, 7545 and 7556, and the ConnectKey-era 7830, 7835, 7845, 7855 and 7970 families including the "i" builds — so one stocked spare covers a mixed fleet. It is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns.

Always used generic brand. This is one of the successful attempts. Save money and get it for your printer.
