Frequently Asked Questions

We fitted a new cyan cartridge this morning and the first few pages came out patchy. Should we send it back?

Not yet — give it a short run of ordinary work first. A fresh 006R01460 arrives with its toner settled to one side of the hopper from shipping, and the first pages off a new cartridge can look uneven until the toner distributes itself evenly across the roller. Print a dozen or so normal pages, or run the machine's built-in color test page two or three times, and the coverage should settle into a flat, solid cyan. Patchiness that survives that settling-in is a different matter — that points to a faulty unit rather than a new one — and this cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns precisely so a genuinely defective unit is exchanged instead of argued over.

The blues in our charts have turned purple, and the greens look yellow. What is going on?

Both shifts are fingerprints of a weakening cyan supply. Blue on paper is a partnership of cyan and magenta in roughly equal measure; as cyan delivery fades, the magenta partner takes over and blues slide through violet toward purple. Green is cyan plus yellow, so the same fade lets yellow dominate and greens turn olive and mustard-colored, while skies in photographs lose their blue and go gray-lavender. Run the printer's own test page: if the cyan patch is the pale one of the four, the cause is inside the machine and has nothing to do with your files or driver. A fresh 006R01460 restores the cyan half of both recipes at once.

The cyan level is low and a color job is due tomorrow. Can rocking the cartridge buy us a little more time?

A little, and it is a legitimate short-term measure. Remove the 006R01460, hold it level with both hands and rock it gently end to end five or six times; that redistributes the toner clinging to the walls of the hopper and can coax out a few dozen acceptable pages. What it cannot do is create toner that is not there — output will fade again quickly, and shaking a nearly empty cartridge hard enough to force the last of it out can leave loose toner inside the machine. Treat the trick as a bridge to the delivery of your replacement, not as a substitute for ordering one.

What does the cyan position add to the cost of each color page?

The 006R01460 sells for $80.87 against a rating of 15,000 pages, which works out to roughly 0.54 cents per rated page — a little over half a cent for the cyan share of every standard-coverage color page these machines produce. There is nothing layered on top of that figure: no click charge, no service agreement and no minimum monthly volume. It is a single cartridge bought outright, which makes the arithmetic for comparing against a managed-print quote unusually simple.

Which models is the 006R01460 made for?

It is the cyan cartridge for two generations of Xerox's compact color workgroup range. The first generation is the WorkCentre 7120 and WorkCentre 7125. The second is the WorkCentre 7220 and WorkCentre 7225, including the ConnectKey "i" variants of those engines — the WorkCentre 7220i, the WorkCentre 7225i and the WorkCentre WC7220TI. Across all seven, the differences sit in the controller and software packages rather than in the toner bay, so one cyan cartridge serves the whole family. The cartridge coming out of your machine carries its part number on the label — 006R01460 is the code this listing replaces.

How should a spare cyan cartridge be kept, and how fast would it reach us?

Keep a spare in its sealed box, standing upright, in a cool cupboard out of direct sunlight; toner is a fine powder that cakes under heat, and a cartridge stored flat for months can deliver unevenly at first. Stored that way, a spare waits patiently until the fitted cartridge gives out. Orders are dispatched from the warehouse nearest to you among our four — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — and the delivery and returns detail lives on the shipping & returns page. Questions about fitment or print quality reach our support team Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Xerox 006R01460 Cyan Toner Cartridge

A single compatible cyan cartridge, part number 006R01460, for Xerox's compact color workgroup machines — the WorkCentre 7120, 7125, 7220 and 7225 families. It is rated at 15,000 pages and priced at $80.87, roughly 0.54 cents per rated page. Cyan is the foundation color underneath almost every blue, teal and green these machines print, which is why its fade shows up disguised as purple blues and yellowing greens long before a page looks obviously wrong; watching its level on the supplies screen keeps those colors honest. A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind it.
