My spare ML-D3470A sat for two years - will it still work in the ML-3471?

For most ML-3471 owners, a single spare ML-D3470A is plenty — the printer warns well before the toner runs out. Only offices that print heavily need to keep two on hand. Stocking more than you will use within a year just risks the toner aging on the shelf.

Why does my ML-3471 jam on certain paper but feed others without trouble?

Power the ML-3471 off and pull the jammed paper out slowly in the direction it normally travels, never backward through the rollers. Remove the ML-D3470A cartridge first so you can see the path clearly and keep toner off your hands. Close everything firmly and print a test page before reloading a full tray.

Can the ML-3471 be configured so every job prints in draft unless I change it?

If your ML-3471 prints light even though you never enabled eco mode, open the driver's quality tab — toner-save is switched on by default in some installations. Turn it off and print a test page at normal quality. Only suspect the ML-D3470A if the output stays light at full density.
