Frequently Asked Questions

How long will one cartridge keep an SCX-3205W going at a family pace?

The MLT-D104S is rated at 1,500 pages, which for a family printing schoolwork, tickets and letters at perhaps 30 pages a week means the best part of a year between swaps. A home worker printing daily will see it turn over in a couple of months — the cartridge is the same, only the pace differs.

What should the first pages look like after fitting it?

Full, even black from the first sheet. Fit the cartridge after a gentle side-to-side rock and removing the protective materials, and the SCX-3205W should print a test page at full density straight away. Faint first output that does not clear within a few pages is worth a call to us rather than persevering.

Does printing over Wi-Fi change how much toner the SCX-3205W uses?

No — the connection method makes no difference to toner consumption; a page sent wirelessly is imaged exactly like one sent over a cable. What changes consumption is what is on the page: coverage, density settings and toner-save mode, not how the job arrived.

Which other Samsung models use the MLT-D104S?

A long compact list: the ML-1661, ML-1665, ML-1666, ML-1667, ML-1675 and ML-1676 printers, the ML-1860, ML-1864 and ML-1866, plus the SCX-3200, SCX-3201, SCX-3205K, SCX-3206, SCX-3210, SCX-3217 and SCX-3218 multifunction models — all covered in our Samsung toner cartridges listings. Homes with two Samsungs of that era often need only this one spare.

What does one cartridge cost to run, in plain terms?

$39.58 buys a rated 1,500 pages, so toner lands near 2.64 cents a page. Heavy graphics push real-world cost up somewhat; plain text in toner-save mode for drafts brings it down. Either way, paper aside, it is the main running cost of the machine.

What happens if this cartridge faults within the year?

It is covered by a one-year warranty and can be returned free of charge at any point in that year — the shipping and returns page explains how, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Dispatch is from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA.
