Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Type C7" mean in this cartridge's name?

Type C7 is the cartridge family name Oki uses for this toner design, and 42918904 is the specific part number of the black cartridge within it. The two labels describe the same item from different angles: Type C7 tells you the cartridge style, while 42918904 is the exact code to match against your printer's supply list or your last order. This listing is one black Type C7 cartridge, rated at 15,000 pages and priced at $83.87.

How far does a 15,000-page black cartridge realistically go?

That rating is the standard yield estimate for the 42918904 under typical page coverage. On a large-format production machine like the ones this cartridge serves, black toner does heavy lifting — proofs, text pages, and the black component of color work all draw from it. An office running a few thousand black pages a month can expect several months from a single cartridge; a print-heavy shop will cycle through it faster, which is why multi-packs of this same code exist.

What is the per-page cost on a single cartridge?

At $83.87 against a 15,000-page rating, the toner cost lands at roughly 0.56 cents per black page. That is the single-cartridge figure with no pack math involved, and it is the baseline the 2, 3 and 5-pack listings of the 42918904 improve on if you would rather buy ahead.

Which printers take this cartridge?

The 42918904 is made for the Oki C9600hdn, Oki C9600hn, Oki C9600n and Oki C9800hdn. If your machine is one of those four and it is calling for black toner, this is the number to match. Oki's neighboring part numbers look alike on paper but are not substitutes, so it is worth a ten-second check of the code your printer asks for before ordering.

Is this an original Oki cartridge?

No. This is a compatible cartridge manufactured to the 42918904 specification, not an Oki-branded product. It carries our one-year warranty, and our one-year free returns policy covers it if it does not perform as it should. The details live on our shipping and returns page.

Where does my order ship from, and how do I reach support?

We dispatch from four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — and your cartridge leaves from the one closest to you. If you want a person to confirm the Type C7 code before you commit, our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central.
