Frequently Asked Questions

What does one cartridge in this C831 set effectively cost?

The full four-color set is $139.21, so each cartridge — black, cyan, magenta or yellow — works out to about $34.80 on average. That is the honest way to read the price: you are buying all four slots of your C831 in one box, not paying a premium for any single color.

Will I really see 10,000 pages from each cartridge?

Each cartridge carries a rating of up to 10,000 pages, and that figure assumes standard test pages with modest coverage. Letters, invoices and reports land reasonably close to it; dense graphics and full-page color pull the real number down, especially on the three color cartridges. Black normally lasts longest in a text-driven office.

Can I replace just the one color that runs out?

Yes. The four cartridges in this set — built to the 44844509, 44844510, 44844511 and 44844512 family — are separate units. Install the color your C831 is asking for and keep the other three sealed on the shelf until their turn comes; nothing about the set forces a four-at-once swap.

How long will a set last a small office?

It depends on your monthly volume, but the arithmetic is simple: the black cartridge's 10,000-page rating is the pacing figure for document work. An office printing a few hundred pages a month can stretch a set well past a year, while a team printing thousands of pages a month should expect to reorder within a few months and may want a spare set waiting.

How should I store the cartridges I am not installing yet?

Keep them sealed in their bags, flat, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Stored that way, the unopened cartridges from this set will sit patiently until the C831 calls for them — there is no need to rush a fresh cartridge into the machine before the old one is spent.

What happens if one of the cartridges gives me trouble?

Every cartridge in the set is covered by a one-year warranty and one-year free returns; the details live on our shipping & returns page. Orders leave from the nearest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central if you want a human to walk through a print problem with you.
