Frequently Asked Questions

Our 5140's prints have lost their punch — which cartridge do we look at first?

Match the symptom to the cartridge. Text that has gone gray and thin points to the black, 330-5846. Blues and greens going dull implicate the cyan, 330-5850; weak reds and oranges, the magenta, 330-5843; pale, washed-out warmth, the yellow, 330-5852. A gentle shake can confirm a cartridge is near the end of its toner, but on a departmental machine the cleaner fix is the planned one: change the set and reset all four ages at once.

One cartridge or the whole set — which makes sense here?

If one color has failed early on its own, change that one. But when the colors are fading together, they are telling you they have worn together: the 330-5850, 330-5843 and 330-5852 are each rated at 12,000 pages, so they approach the end in the same season. A full set at $140.48 restores the balance in a single visit instead of three staggered ones.

Does "Premium Quality" in this listing's name mean a better cartridge?

There is no listed specification behind the words. This listing and the standard 5140 listing share the same four codes — 330-5846, 330-5850, 330-5843, 330-5852 — the same 18,000/12,000-page ratings, the same $140.48 price and the same warranty and returns cover. Treat the phrase as part of the name and judge the set by those numbers.

How much longer does the black last than the colors?

Half again as long on rating: 18,000 pages for the 330-5846 against 12,000 for each color. Across 36,000 pages of mixed output that works out to roughly two black cartridges against three of each color — worth knowing before you assume a fading black and fading colors will finish together.

What arrives in the box?

Four cartridges: 330-5846 black, 330-5850 cyan, 330-5843 magenta and 330-5852 yellow, yields quoted at the standard 5% coverage that ratings are measured by.

What if the new set does not fix the output?

Then the cause lies elsewhere in the machine, and you have lost nothing on the toner side: these compatible cartridges carry a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
