Frequently Asked Questions

When should I reorder the 330-5852 for our 5130cdn?

Reorder when the printer's supply gauge shows roughly a fifth left, or when yellows start looking weak — whichever comes first. A 330-5852 is rated at 12,000 pages, so in a department printing 1,000 color pages a month that last fifth still covers about ten weeks; a low-volume office can safely wait longer. Because orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, delivery is a matter of days, not weeks, so there is no need to panic-buy early.

Our prints have turned cold and bluish — could the yellow cartridge be empty?

Yes, that is exactly what a depleted yellow supply does. Yellow warms every image the 5130cdn prints, and when the 330-5852 fades, greens go blue, warm photos turn cold and yellows themselves wash out to near-white. If the other colors still print richly on a test page while yellow is pale or missing, the 330-5852 is the cartridge to replace.

Why does the 330-5852 cost a little more than the cyan and magenta cartridges?

Honestly, pricing simply varies a little from cartridge to cartridge: the yellow 330-5852 is $49.99, against $47.31 for its cyan and magenta counterparts, and all three carry the same 12,000-page rating. Per page that puts yellow at roughly 0.42 cents against about 0.39 cents for the others — a real but small difference, and we would rather show it plainly than hide it.

How far ahead does one 330-5852 let an office plan?

At a light 250 color pages a month, a single cartridge can cover close to four years of yellow. At 500 color pages monthly it is about two years, and even a busy 2,000-page-a-month department gets roughly six months from one. Those figures assume the standard 5% coverage the 12,000-page rating is based on; photo-heavy work will use yellow noticeably faster.

Can I keep a spare 330-5852 on the shelf without it going bad?

Yes — keep it sealed, stored flat at room temperature and away from sunlight or heat vents, and it will be ready when you need it. Only open the packaging at install time. FIFO discipline helps: if you ever hold two spares, fit the older one first so stock rotates instead of aging in a drawer.

Is this a Dell original, and what protection comes with it?

No, the 330-5852 is a compatible cartridge made to the original specification for the Dell Color Laser 5120cdn and 5130cdn. It carries a one-year warranty and one year of free returns — see the shipping and returns page for the terms — and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The full range for these printers sits on our Dell toner page.
