Frequently Asked Questions

What does one printed page actually cost with the 330-5850?

The cartridge costs $47.31 and is rated at 12,000 pages, which works out to roughly 0.39 cents per page for cyan. Put another way, 1,000 pages of cyan coverage run about $3.94. That is the honest arithmetic on the 330-5850: high-yield capacity is what keeps the per-page figure low, not a headline price on a small cartridge.

Why does the cyan cartridge in our 5130cdn drop even when we mostly print black text?

Color laser printers sip color toner in the background. The Dell Color Laser 5130cdn runs calibration cycles and lays down small amounts of color during warm-up and cleaning routines, so the 330-5850 slowly depletes even in an office that prints almost entirely black-and-white documents. A gradual cyan decline on a text-heavy machine is normal behavior, not a leak.

How long will 12,000 pages of cyan last in a working office?

It depends entirely on your monthly color volume. At roughly 250 color pages a month, one 330-5850 can cover close to four years of cyan. At 1,000 color pages a month it is about a year, and a busy department pushing 2,000 color pages monthly will see around six months from it. The 12,000-page rating assumes standard 5% page coverage, so brochure-heavy printing shortens those timelines.

Our blues look pale and the greens have gone washed out — is the cyan cartridge the cause?

That is the classic signature of a fading cyan supply. Cyan is the foundation of every blue and green on the page, so when the 330-5850 runs low, skies go pale and greens lose their depth while reds and yellows still look fine. Print a color test page: if the cyan block prints weak or streaky while the others are solid, this cartridge is the one to change.

Is the 330-5850 a genuine Dell cartridge?

No. This is a compatible cartridge built to the 330-5850 specification for the Dell Color Laser 5120cdn and 5130cdn, sold under our own brand rather than Dell's. It is backed by a one-year warranty, and our wider range of Dell cartridges is listed on the Dell toner page.

What happens if the cartridge arrives damaged or fails early?

Every 330-5850 is covered by a one-year warranty and one year of free returns, so a cartridge that arrives damaged or gives up early comes back to us at no cost to you — the full terms are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
